Joey took down many other top eaters at the Nathans World Famous Hot Dog eating contest. This event did not go off with out incident however. Rival eater, Takeru Kobyashi did not take part due to a labor impass (really??) but stormed the stage after the event...police took him in to custody where he spent the night in jail. This week on "After-Dark"...The interwebs have been abuzz this past week with talk about the hiring of a new host for the show BBQ Pitmasters (season 2) which will air on TLC. The host, Kevin Roberts, has been taking some on many of the barbecue boards for what many of the purists/fanatics consider sacrilege...most importantly the utterance of the word "BOIL" when cooking ribs!! Many people think that Kevin came off ignorant in the ways of traditional bbq and wonder if this is the right choice for host of the show. During this portion of "AD" Clint Cantwell of Smoke in Da Eye (supporter of Kevin Roberts) goes "Point/Counter-Point" against Gary Notley of Notley Q BBQ (detractor of Kevin Roberts). Among the host issue, they will also weigh in on if they think the format change to BBQ Pitmasters will help or hurt the show in regards to its attracting an audience.

The second portion of "AD" will find Konrad Haskins coming on to talk about his RGC at the Roc City Ribfest last week. During the 2nd segment I will be joined the Sales and Marketing Director for a MAK Grills, Bruce Bjorkman. MAK is a new pellet fired cooker which has recently hit the market to some very good reviews. MAK claims to have the most sophisticated controller in the industry along with being manufactured right here in the USA unlike some of its competition. If time allows, I will give him my take on why the show might be doomed in the style it is set up currently, how he will pick new cast members for upcoming seasons and mix in some of your questions as well.

During the 2nd segment I will be joined lead singer of the band Three Years Hollow. This band has been dubbed the “unofficial” band of the show. A few months ago when I went to using legal music for my show this band allowed me use of their music. They are currently unsigned and are looking to make it in the music business...they are a rock band in the same vain as Godsmack, SevenDust and Disturbed. Jose Urquiza will join me to talk about the band, how they formed and what's it’s like to try and make it in the music business during this time of technology and social media...should be a great interview! The 3rd segment will find pitmaster of team Halla-N-Swalla, Allan Hedrick, joining the show to talk about his experience with the reality TV show on TLC, BBQ Pitmasters.
